TCFF 2024 Spotlight: Adventure Tom
2024 marks 15 years of the Twin Cities Film Fest, which runs October 17-26 at the Marcus West End Cinema at the Shops at West End in St. Louis Park.
Nearly 150 films – including features, shorts, animation, and documentaries – will screen over the course of the festival, both in-person and online (through TCFF’s Streams platform). Additionally, directors, producers, and actors will walk the red carpet, present their films, and take part in Q&As and discussions about their work.
Over the course of TCFF 2024, we’ll be chatting with some of those filmmakers and stars to find out more about what they’re bringing to the TCFF screens.

Director Miguel Duran’s “Adventure Tom” is another of the MN Connected films playing at this year’s Twin Cities Film Fest (do you sense a theme here?). Heading west from Minneapolis, this road trip indie is making its Minnesota premiere on opening weekend.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your film.
“Adventure Tom” is about two unlikely road trip passengers – Tom, a comic book artist, and Lilly, an accountant, driving across the country to get back home. Their trip takes them from Minneapolis through sites and national parks across six states, with their final destination at the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
Q: Now tell us something about it that we might not be able to glean from the trailer or description.
Tom expresses how he feels visually – in his sketchbook. We see several of Tom’s drawings come to life in short animated sequences throughout the film.
Q: If someone is only going to see one film at the Twin Cities Film Fest, why should it be this one?
You will laugh, you will cry, you will see the beautiful landscape of this country, and even see some animation too!
Q: Prior to TCFF, where has the film screened, and what has the response been so far?
This will be our first screening with an audience!
Q: What was it that drew you to submit your film for the Twin Cities Film Fest?
The TCFF staff was a huge help in referring crew members and connecting us with the local Twin Cities film community, so we knew this would be the perfect place to begin our screening journey.
Q: What’s next for your film after this festival?
This is the beginning of our festival run and we have several more planned over the next few months and into Spring 2025.
